FAQs - Temporary Gym Closure October 2025

FAQs - Temporary Gym Closure October 2025

Lords is pleased to announce that we are upgrading some of our equipment in the gym. The upgrade will include replacing the current cardio machines with new, top-of-the-range equipment. Additionally, we will be installing two brand new pieces of strength equipment - a prone leg curl machine and adding an extra leg extension machine to the gym floor.

To enable this upgrade to go ahead safely, the gym will be closed from Wednesday 22 to Friday 24 October, inclusive. We anticipate the gym will reopen on Saturday 25 October. Group fitness classes and the pool will be available as usual during this time. We will also be running our gym-based classes, SWEAT and Functional Fitness, on the sports courts throughout the mornings of the closure so you won't miss your chance to train.

If you have any questions, or would like to discuss the upgrade further, please feel free to contact us at lords@subiaco.wa.gov.au

As always, thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you in the gym soon!

 Frequently Asked Questions

Which equipment is getting upgraded? What is coming?
All of our cardio is being swapped out for brand new equipment, plus the installation of two popular strength machines: the prone leg curl, and another leg extension.

Why are we getting an upgrade? What was wrong with our current equipment?
Lords values providing high quality equipment to our members! To ensure we provide our members the most up to date equipment, we regularly replace it.

Why do you need to close the gym down for multiple days? Can't I just use the strength equipment?
We value patron safety, since the equipment is being built in the gym, it’s not safe to have patrons moving in and around the gym whilst these works are being completed, but we can’t wait to see you back on the 25th.

What other options do I have to work out while the gym is closed?
If you’ve never given group fitness a try, now is the perfect time! For your strength training needs, get down to Functional Strength or BODYPUMP. If cardio is more your forte, then any of the cycle classes (RPM or SPRINT), BODYCOMBAT or BODYATTACK will be a better fit for you. If you're looking to find your inner Zen then Yoga, Pilates or BODYBALANCE is a great way to keep your fitness going. The pool will also be available if you feel like getting in a few laps - you can check lane availability here.

Love our morning SWEAT and Functional Fitness classes? These classes will still be running on the sports courts during the closure as well as some additional classes throughout the morning - perfect for your HIIT fix! You will be able to reserve your spot for these classes, as usual, via our member portal.

What happens to my membership/can I suspend?
If group fitness classes, pool workouts or alternative options don’t suit you, consider this the perfect excuse for some well-earned rest! To suspend your membership for the duration of the closure, please submit your suspension form here, by no later than Wednesday 15 October. This will not impact your annual membership suspension entitlements.

Please note: while your membership is on freeze, you will be unable to use any facilities that remain operational (for example, pool, sauna or group fitness classes).

Will the equipment be the same as what we had before?
The equipment will most definitely be able to provide you with the same workout as the old equipment. We have added some extra pieces of equipment and technological advancements on all of the traditional cardio pieces like the treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes.

Will the gym layout be the same? How will I find all the equipment I usually use in my workout?
The gym from first glance will look relatively the same with a few pieces of equipment located just a few steps away from where it used to live. Up close, and during your workout is where you will really notice the benefits of the brand-new equipment. There will also be additional pieces of equipment in the functional area for you to try.

Why does the gym have to be closed?
Due to the extent of work that needs to be completed, it is simply not practical to have the gym operating during this time.

What if the works take longer than expected?
We will keep you updated on the progress of the project and notify all members as soon as possible if it is likely to take longer than anticipated.

What does this mean for my current gym exercise program?
We will be launching our new suite of cardio equipment with a brand-new integrated App. The app is currently in final development stages and will be available soon. If you currently use an active program through the Technogym app, it will be automatically transferred across to the new app for you! Our gym team will be offering all members complimentary education sessions to assist you with setting up and navigating your way around the new app.

Please note: the Technogym app will no longer be available from 24 October.
Prior to this date, you can continue using the Technogym app for your training programs. Your historical body scan data will not carry over, so make sure to screenshot any data you’d like to keep before this date to continue tracking your progress. If you’d like a hard copy of your program, our friendly staff can provide it to you via email or print out so you can keep up with your routine during the changeover.
