Temporary Change Room Closure
Lords will be installing access control to the male and female gym side change rooms. This change is being introduced to help manage access to, and mitigate risk associated with access to the saunas. Entry to these change rooms will require a valid fob or scannable barcode.
The installation will take place on 14, 15 & 16 October. During this time, there will be no access to the gym side change rooms, including the UAT. Alternative toilets and change room facilities are available near Group Fitness, the café, and the squash courts. The gym side change rooms will reopen on Saturday 17 October.
As always, thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to seeing you at Lords!
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the access control being installed?
In June 2025, the City engaged Urbis to conduct an operational review of Lords and recommend strategies to enhance financial performance, maximise community benefit and address risk. One of these strategies included access control to the gym side changerooms to restrict unauthorised use of the saunas and reduce the risk this poses to members and the City.
Why can’t the access control be installed on the sauna door?
As part of the project, we investigated installing access control directly on the sauna doors so that the bathrooms and showers could remain accessible without requiring access to the change room.
There are several practical and operational issues with this approach including:
- The structure and configuration of the entry and exit points.
- The ongoing maintenance requirements of access control equipment in a warm and humid environment.
- No staff supervision of the area.
- The need to ensure the facility meets safety and compliance requirements.
How long will the change rooms be closed for?
The change rooms will be closed for the length of the install, from Wednesday 14 October to Friday 16 October.

I am a visit pass member can I use a visit to enter the change room?
To prevent unintended use of visits, visit pass holder fobs will be blocked from the change rooms. A visit can be redeemed for access to the change rooms at Reception however, it is more economical to purchase a casual sauna pass for $12.50. If you have any questions regarding upgrading your membership, please contact our memberships team at memberships@subiaco.wa.gov.au.
Will we be allowing causal sauna entry?
Casual sauna access will be available for purchase at Reception for $12.50. Entry to the change rooms is also included in the purchase of a causal gym or group fitness entry.
What about increased traffic to other change rooms?
We understand that this project will result in increased traffic to our other change room facilities, particularly those closest to the Group Fitness rooms. Please let our reception team know of any concerns regarding cleanliness and availability of consumables.
