Ever wondered what the airport luggage scale lookalike is doing at the gym desk? It's not a luggage scale, nor is it just an overly complex body weight scale; it's a body composition scanner!

Scanning over 30 measurements in less than 3 minutes, our Tanita made Body Composition Scanner provides you with highly accurate whole body and segmental analysis. For example, it will tell you the breakdown of each measurement in your whole body as well as each limb.

The scanner talks directly to your mywellness app on your phone, showing charts of your body's changes between each scan. The data never expires and having visual feedback on what your body is actually doing over time can be motivating and keep you accountable.

You may not always feel like your body has progressed, but it most likely has if you've been putting in the work!

What can it measure?

The Body Composition Scanner measures all of the following across each limb within a 5% accuracy range from a medical grade Dexa scan:

  • Fat mass
  • Body Mass Index
  • Basal Metabolic Rate
  • Fat Free Mass
  • Metabolic Age
  • Muscle Mass
  • Total Body Water
  • Visceral Fat
  • Bone Mass
  • Total body weight

When to use it?

Tanita recommends scanning when your body is most hydrated. This is usually at least 3 hours after waking, eating and training, and so before an evening meal would be ideal.

However, both Tanita and the instructors at Lords say that while this time may provide the most accurate reflection of your body, the most important thing is measuring your patterns over time. So, as long as you scan at the same time on a regular basis, you'll see the patterns regardless.
