UPDATE: As of 12pm on Monday 23 March, Lords has been temporarily closed. Please refer to the latest news story for details.
At Lords, the health and safety of our members, sports teams and staff is our highest priority. We have been closely monitoring the emerging COVID-19 situation and following all recommendations from the relevant authorities, such as the Department of Health (DOH).
As such, we have made changes to some of our programs and services. These changes include:
18 March 2020 – Social sports competition
The decision has been made to suspend our social sports competition, effective immediately, until the week ending 26 April.
We have made this decision due to the contact nature of our sporting competition, and to ensure that Lords is following the lead of state sporting associations including Basketball WA, Netball WA and other sporting bodies who have suspended all their sanctioned activities.
This means that the summer finals season has been cancelled and the upcoming autumn/winter season has been postponed. All fees for games from Wednesday 18 March onwards will be credited towards the next season, once the competition resumes.
We have sent communication out to all team captains and will continue to update our sports teams in the coming days as more information becomes available.
18 March 2020 – Community fitness programs
We have made the difficult decision to cancel all community fitness programs, including chair yoga, Zumba gold, gold fitness and gold Pilates. This action will come into effect immediately.
The decision has been made with the health and safety of participants in mind, as well as the DOH’s social distancing recommendations for seniors and those who are more vulnerable to COVID-19 infection.
18 March 2020 – Reduced café opening hours
Starting Thursday 19 March, the café will close at the earlier time of 5pm on weeknights. The reduction in opening hours is due to the cancellation of our weeknight sporting competition.
Thank you to all our café patrons for your understanding.
18 March 2020 – Netball for fitness
We have made the decision to suspend our netball for fitness program. As with our social sports competition, we are following the lead of state sporting associations such as Netball WA who have suspended all their sanctioned activities.
19 March 2020 – Kids programs and events
All Lords run kids programs and events have been suspended, effective immediately, until 26 April 2020. This includes the April school holiday program, No Sweats teen fit and all birthday party bookings that fall before this date.
We have contacted everyone who has already booked in for a program or kids party during this period and are in the process of organising refunds or rescheduling.
20 March 2020 – Ageing and balance workshop cancelled
The free March ageing and balance workshop has been cancelled.
For more information on what we are doing to minimise risk at Lords, please see our COVID-19 response page.
