Team SubiFit took to the streets of Perth last weekend to participate in the 43rd annual City to Surf, alongside more than 20,000 other competitors.
The group of thirty Subiaco community members had representatives in six of the race categories, ranging from the four kilometre walk to the marathon. With some amazing results on the day, the group stood out for more than just their bright blue team shirts!
Mary Thomson took out first place in her age category for the twelve kilometre walk in a time of just one hour and thirty-nine minutes.
Paul Foran achieved another great result, running the marathon in a time of three hours, forty minutes and achieving fifth place in his category.
Finally, SubiFit team leader and Lords employee, Michael Hayes completed the twelve kilometre run in fifty minutes, finishing 128th out of a total of more than 5000 participants.
“It was a fantastic day, which was made even better with the support of the SubiFit team,’ said Michael.
“Swapping training tips leading up to the big day and then having everyone there to cheer each other on at the finish line was fantastic. I can’t wait for next year!”
SubiFit is a new initiative from the City of Subiaco aimed at encouraging the local community to keep active. The City to Surf team was the first event organised as part of the program, which is set to be rolled out to the community in the coming months.
